Volfcraft scope DSO-1062D
« on: April 28, 2014, 06:15:25 pm »
Hi eevblog'ers
I an new to this site but it seems to be a very nice place for electronics.
My project is to restore and old Hammond H100 organ and repair a set of wireless microphones for now.
I have always been interested in electronics and build a lot of stuff ower the years.

BUT: For the organ I just bought a scope to see what's going on "in there".
It is a cheap one but it is only for low frequency.

PROBLEM: The scope seems to have a wrong firmware (or old) it shows too long texts and some are not translated properly.
I did a search (of source and this is how I found this place). It seems folks agree it has an old firmware but nobody says the actually have the correct one. So does anybody have a new one (think it should be version 3.3 somethink). I also see people get another firmware and expand the bandwidth - maybe that version will do instead of the original, but again I can't find that file either.

Can anybody help (maybe also how to install it).
Yes I could send it back but if I can avoid that I will fix it myself.

Regards Peter (owner of my first scope)

That thing is a rebranded Hantek. Check the epic Hantek tread on this forum.
I delete PMs unread. If you have something to say, say it in public.

That is a very big tread. I did go there but my problem is to find the firmware file something like "dos5kb_func_dso1062d2014????.up
This seems to be very difficult and I hoped somebody had this file and would send it to me.

Regards Peter

I still have problem with messed up language on the scope.
I got a new firmware from Conrad - so that should be OK
I can't upload this file to the server, so contact me if this a file you need.

But even after install I don't have correct text on the scope.
See picture "pic_12_2.gif" (a save from the scope) to see the problem.
Anybody knows what can be done about that.
The firmware on the scope says 3.30.0(130928.0)

Regards Peter

I have a hantek DSO5102b with the same hardware and firmware and I have not seen that problem (YET). To be fair i only received my scope this week so there has not been that much time for any gremlins to appear. There does also seem to be a new firmware for my scope on the hantek site for mine, but i have yet to install it. It may be worth reading the first post of the epic hantec thread and the last 10-20 pages or even searching that thread to see if there is any resolution to the problem there. It could be that its a problem with the voltcraft version of the firmware..

Also to add to the above post can you state exactly how, (button presses that kind of thing) to make the corrupted text appear? I will try and replicate it on my hantek version and see if i can replicate it.

Hi simonmc
If you have the problem you will it right away without doubt. Text on the line at the buttom are too long so it is very visible.
Is it possible for you to make a backup of your scope's FW and send it to me?
Might be it is only the "Language.lan" file I need - but I am not sure.
The backup are described in the epic thread you mention - it is about a hack to get 200Mhz band on a 60  Mhz version.
That I am not interested in because I just need the scope for audio purpose - so for the moment I work in the range 20 - 20K Hz (actually less - restoring an old Hammond organ).
I have been offered to send the scope back - but I don'n want to do that if I can get a correct language-file.

Regards Peter

Hi Peter, I hope this is not a general problem with the actual Voltcraft 1062b, since my will arrive this week  :o.
I know my analog scopes well, but will be the first digital for me too.
The numbers in brackets in the firmware filename should be the date code, so 130928 should be 28th September 2013.
There should be a newer firmware from January 2014 (but I can be wrong  ;) ).
Have you tryed to select an other language?
Nicely ask Tinhead in the Hantek tread  :-+, I bet he can help you. He is the expert with these Hantek/Tekway/Voltcraft scopes.

It is not a general problem. Just my bad - the big problem are I can't update the FW when I try I get an error - something with "not allowed in this mode" and som hex value.

Maybe the previous owner messed around with the scope. Ask Tinhead/Thomas as I said. Perhaps per personal message. He can help you.  ;)

I agree with the above posts and the best person to ask will be tinhead. However when i get a chance (I am quite busy at the moment) I will try and get a back up to you. I did see the picture above, and can say i have not seen that on my scope.

Why is it that whenever I get a new toy, life seems to get in the way of playing with it?? |O
