Pomona vrs 3M SOIC test clips anyone tried both?

Just received my set of Pomona SOIC test clips, I'm a bit disappointed, as mentioned elsewhere the pins are held in place by melting the plastic body, also the on the larger 28pin clip the alignment is poor - so this set will be returned, but my question is ....

are the 3M SOIC test clips a better bet? has anyone tried both? how are the 3M pins held in position

the 3M are slightly more expensive so are they worth the extra?
