Digitech qc1932 scope screen problems
« on: March 15, 2022, 05:12:32 am »
Hi all,

Ive purchased my first basic scope - the Digitech qc1932. It was sold to me as used in a school environment but appears to have been unused as the screen protector still on etc. Unfortunately when I received it and powered it on the screen seems to be problematic with both the boot image (splash screen) and scope image being reversed, corrupted and overlapping. See pics.

Initially I thought this would be a simple screen ribbon cable issue and opened it up. The cable seemed in place correctly so I reseated the terminals however this did not fix the problem.

Another thought I had is that maybe the scope was flashed with incompatible hardware? Looks like Digitech used this model number across a few products based on Siglent hardware.

Has anyone any idea what might be the issue here?

Thanks

Mike.

Fairly sure that's a display ribbon cable fault.
I can't remember if these have a secondary ribbon cable connector on the rear of the display which to get to requires almost a complete dismantle. Unlike the socket on the mainboard IIRC they didn't have a retaining tape and these ribbon cable sockets have a somewhat fragile locking system so be sure to take care with them.

If you get the cable free between the mainboard and display and buzz it out and find it faulty there's a good chance I have one here.

Thanks,
Yes the ribbon cable goes from the main board to a small PCB connector taped to the back of the screen. There is then a second cable going from this PCB into the screen. Getting to this did require extensive disassembly - removing the power supply PCB to get to the screws securing the front of the case to the steel casing. The small PCB tapped to the back of the screen has the cables glued in, I didn't muck around with these connections as they looked good but I guess the fault could be there? Ill take another look tomorrow. Will also check continuity of the cable thanks.

Thank you very much for your help, you have saved me from going off on the firmware tangent.

Another member also had a reversed screen problem so it might be worth having a read of this thread before you pull it apart again.

Thanks everyone,
Ive just got the scope working again.
I disassembled the scope and got access to the small ribbon cable connector (pictured) and removed the silicone and cables. Cleaned / reseated and assembled. It looks like this is the same issue linked to in the above post also.

Regards,
Mike
