Hi folks, I'm new here to the forum, but I know I'm in the right place......(should have been here all along...lol) Been watching Dave's videos when I get a chance, and learning whatever I can. My question is regarding oscopes with isolated inputs, such as the Fluke 190 series, Tektronix THS3024, etc. Are these battery powered type of scopes the only ones that truly have isolated inputs?? I use a Fluke 199C occasionally at work, along with some other Tek scopes. That said, I did get a Rigol DS1102E earlier this year for home use (hobby stuff) and have liked it thus far. However, I will say I wish I had a scope with isolated inputs in order to take different measurements without having to worry about grounding something.
I'm far from a scope expert, so I'm hoping some of you experts will jump in here with reasons/suggestions why I should go with a particular scope. My preference thus far has been to stick with a portable scope, due to the obvious portability, and mostly the isolation of all channels. The scopes I mentioned above are not cheap by any means, but I also wonder if getting a portable scope in that range that I might be losing out on a great bench scope in that same $$ range. I would have thought there would have been more scopes with isolated inputs......maybe I'm looking in the wrong places, or too low of price range.....HELP!
Any and all feedback is welcomed and appreciated.
Thanks,
BlueRider
