Volt input jack broke on 121GW
« on: February 04, 2021, 02:58:55 pm »
Hi,

the input jack on my 121GW broke a while ago and I managed to smelt it together again which lasted for like a year or so but now the part has fallen off again and I just wanted to check whether this has happened to anyone else and whether there could be some replacement part available.
All the input jacks are one solid part, unfortunately. So if I'd find one fitting input jack, I'd had to mod everything a bit in order to remove the broken part of the current input jack assembly...

Any ideas? I wrote to Dave a while ago but he didn't respond, unfortunately (no offense taken)...

Thanks yall!

thanks, I did that but unfortunately Dave didn't respond yet. I really hope that he'll send me a replacement jack. I'd even pay for it...

For documentation purposes, were you using UEi or Brymen test leads?

No not yet, because my meter isn't within the affected serial numbers an because tautech said I should just quote the post (which I did).
Will send him an e-mail.

I am using the Probemaster 8043SK kit. https://probemaster.com/8000-series-test-lead-master-kits/

only found this topic today, while searching for 121GW related.
Hi,

the input jack on my 121GW broke a while ago ...
exactly same here, I don't even need to post a picture, it looks 100% identical.

Using the probes marked "B.T.C" (Brymen? "1kV 10A CAT-II/IV" with screw-on 4mm for the tips, like https://www.welectron.com/Brymen-BL21S2-T4SC-Silicone-Test-Leads ) that shipped with the 121GW  The shard that broke off the jack in DMM got stuck in the plug of probe, no way to get it out

cheers

I like the UEi leads better for the 121GW mechanically.  They glide in and out very well...

It would be nice for those of us with 121GWs that are out of warranty to be able to officially buy a spare set of input jacks, just in case.

Thanks yall!

is your probe jack a little big it's hard to insert to your 121GW's input jack? or is it because of aging?
