Tek TDS 340A/360/380 option 14
« on: September 13, 2020, 03:09:09 am »
Hi,

When it comes to the Tektronix TDS 340A finding/buying the comms module called "option14" is proving to be quite a pain. The module adds a VGA port, rs232, gpib and a printer port. I'd really benefit from the VGA port and RS232 interface.

Checking the service manual shows 6 pins from the main board connecting to the VGA board. This is likely connected the main boards DAC for the display, could it really be as simple as creating my own VGA cable to the main board? Anyone tried it? However, I don't have a clue which of the 50pins from the main board would be rs232...

Any chance someone could provide a picture of the option 14 pcb from their scope?

Thank you

Hi

I have included a few shots that could be helpful.

Also, check out https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/tektronix-tds-340-experimenting-with-photos!/msg368479/#msg368479

Thank you, it looks to me like I'll be able to get VGA out, without the option 14 module!  RS232 does not look like it'll be possible without seeing the top side of the board which has all the connectors mounted to it.
