Does anyone know where I can get other tips for it? The tips provided in the packaging are terrible... Even using low / proper heat to not damage the tips - they still end up pretty bad.

I also blip the trigger and I plan on making a mod to change how the vacuum system works - either by a) having a vacuum chamber, sensor, etc.. so the vacuum chamber gets a vacuum and is maintained at a certain level by the pump and pulling the trigger operates a solenoid for suction... or b) create a delay circuit which opens a solenoid when the pump has reached peak suction. -- I am probably also going to create another circuit for the trigger so the vacuum can only be blipped. ie: active for as much time is necessary at max suction for the solder to clear the tube, and no more with a bypass switch to allow normal mode.

I was thinking of originally building one, but the prices are so low I figured I'd buy one and see how I like it before modifying it.

The handheld unit, the gun is nice but it makes this awful loud buzzing noise. The heating element is TINY.. I thought it would be the same size as my normal soldering iron, but it is miniature... Is this just on this design or is it on all? If it is just on this design, I may replace the element...

I have yet to be able to find any replacement tips for it - does anyone know where I can get quality tips for this device?
Does anyone have a side by side photo of the ZD 985 with this unit to compare the size of the heating element to see if it is just this unit or if all of them are this tiny..?

Also, the motor is really loud and I saw that someone made their own with a small motor that performed really well and was silent. Does anyone have any good recommendations for motors as I may just buy another handle, get a bigger heating element, tips, etc.. and incorporate this into my existing station... I modified the hot air tool so it has the same gz-16-n connector so I can rewire the handle, etc.. to fit and have the wire-out work for it ( I'd make it so the wires on the desoldering gun aren't changed since I added the connector to the hot air gun - but I'll likely have to add a larger connector... OR, I'll just add a smaller connector next to it and use one or the other )...

I think I can make it all work in the current housing... I also purchased a KSGER T12 soldering station which I may also incorporate into the same housing by replacing my existing one - or I'll keep it as the primary after resolving the main issues with it. It's version 3.1 or 3.01...

Does anyone have any other mods they'd recommend to do with the ss 331, photos, etc..? or the KSGER?
