1) Is that a camera mount on the back?
Looks like the thread size of a tripod for cameras.

Nope. Its an optical input and output to which an USB adapter can be connected. Well known from the tried and tested UT71D, for example.

Yet the BD-99 is about 40-50% more expensive  :-// . Maybe the specsheet is omiting something...

The 870 doesn't have dual display, that's a brand new model that Aneng doesn't have yet.    :-DMM

(nb. Aneng isn't always the first to get these meters, they often appear under other brands first)

Edit: you can get them for about the same price as the 870:

Aneng (Richmeters, ZOYI, etc) meters are made by ZOTEK. But this BD-99 does not appear on their product page. I wonder if they forked one of the schematics...

As I mentioned in the Aneng thread, this meter is physically identical to the terrible Surpeer AV4 - an unfinished product that should have not reached the shelves.
If this is a meter with a revamped firmware that fixes some of the issues, then it should be a start. Otherwise, it could be simply offloading of the same old crap in a different dressing.

Oh, the "whys" of the datasheets... The information is there not to be an axiomatic truth, but instead each speck of data must be slowly inhaled while carefully performing a deep search inside oneself to find the true metaphysical sense...

I just tried to find some references about this "Borbede" and I found this meter is older than I expected: I found an attempt of a review from Youtube dated from Jan 2020. One can't see much of the meter, as the guy did not have a 9V battery to turn it on.
At any rate, given the date I suspect it is the same turd dressed differently.

It is worse than that. If I recall correctly, the bargraph has only 5 subdivisions.

It's really a shame. If the Zotek ZT219 (Aneng 870) had a good bargraph I would order a couple on a heartbeat. I'm still tempted to buy one though (MAS-19) to replace one of my 8009s.

Does it change by individual segments?

That should be a standard multimeter test these days - connect up a potentiometer and check out the bar graph segemnts.  ;)

I need to know if it beeps in a useful way on Diode test range.
From the UT161 Series user manual,
https://www.uni-trend.com/uploadfile/2020/1101/20201101050905917.pdf

"Open circuit voltage: About 3V
For normal diodes, the buzzer will beep once.
For short circuit, the buzzer will beep for a long time."

Hopefully, it will test white LEDs.

Going from the UT161D to the UT161E, the type K thermocouple range is replaced by a less useful hFE range.
I will not be giving these meters any more thought.

Light goes green for voltage drop between [0.12V;2V]
Light goes red for short circuit <0.12V
Light off for voltage drop above 2V

Replacing the  K Temperature range on the UT61e+ with a useless hFE range is so dumb and a deal killer for me.
It annoys me even more, now seeing how well the meter generally performs.
They need to correct this very poor decision.

To use the hFE function, the adapter first needs to be inserted into the input terminals.
This exercise will soon become tedious.

a) Insides look MUCH better than the old one
b) Damn, that's a big meter!

To use the hFE function, the adapter first needs to be inserted into the input terminals.

Does anybody even measure hFE these days? It seems like a 1970s measurement to me.  :scared:

Ew! That flux/soldering is NOT good for long term reliability.
