Fluke 8842A getting rid of a small current offset (-30 uA)
« on: September 20, 2015, 02:45:51 am »
Is it possible on the Fluke 8842A multimeter to get rid of a small current offset (say about 30 microamperes or so)? This appears when the unit is fully warmed up and in current measurement mode and there is nothing attached to it. I was looking through the manual and short of going through the entire calibration procedure for all functions, I see no way to get rid of a fairly small current offset (i.e., to zero out the reading when there is no current flowing through the instrument).

If anyone has any thoughts or knows of a way to do this, please help me out.

Just use math REL function to null readout?

Does pressing the offset button work?

Yep, that's exactly what the OFFSET button does.  See section 2-29 in the manual "Offset Measurements".

Yep, that's exactly what the OFFSET button does.  See section 2-29 in the manual "Offset Measurements".

I must have been blind, the Offset button did the trick! I guess I was looking for a Zero button and tried to search for zero/zeroing in the manual, as it is called on my other DVMs. Apparently, the word offset didn't click in my head as "compensating for an existing offset."
