A bit of ambiguity in the datasheet :
It lists 3 memory options in "configuring your oscilloscope" on p.6  but these are not listed in the end under "After-Purchase License-Only Upgrades"
Does that mean memory upgrades are hardware - seems unlikely.

Under "After-Purchase License-Only Upgrades" it lists MSO, but also states MSO is standard elsewhere.
From the data sheet it may be difficult to understand.
• Memory upgrade is license only (no HW upgrade required). There are two pn because you can buy it immediately with the unit or later as an upgrade.
• MSO license comes standard in all models, the logic probe is the same of 3000A/T/G and 4000A/G, so if you own it already just connect to HD3 and it works.

Do you want a video tomorrow or not?
If it's tomorrow, "you get what you get and you don't get upset".

If it doesn't educate me (or entertain me) then I don't want it at any time. My (remaining) life is precious; I won't get it back!
I don't look to your videos for entertainment (duh!), so that leaves education in the form of reasoned opinions.
Quite frankly I really don't understand the rationale for "I opened the box and it looks like the brochure and didn't blow up when I plugged it in" videos, other than as an egoboo. (Yes, I realise you aren't fishing for egoboos :) )

It's not an unedited unboxing, I decided against that.
I currently have about 12min of edited footage that inincludes unboxing, power up, new UI, and playing around with various options including an issue I found already, and some comparison with the 3000X
It's 7:30pm here and I'm home for dinner, and I went to the gym for an hour and half. I'll be going to back to shoot more footage tonight that will include the requested noise tests and the 14bit mode and update rate testing.
Have to drop the kids off at school tomorrow and attend a thing with the principal, and then I have maybe another hour until I have a physio appointment and then I'll get back to it.
If people want a video edited and finished tomorrow then there is only so much I can do in the time I have.
Watch it or not, your choice.

Good, good, a delay of a week (or even a month) is trivial in the scheme of things, and of course.
There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.

(Even if I can't buy it because Keysight refuse sell it to people like me).

Why you want to buy directly from Keysight?  :-//
You can buy from a distributor (which can offer you support in case you need).

Search for "Keysight support" here and elsewhere, e.g. one current thread at https://groups.io/g/HP-Agilent-Keysight-equipment/message/146632

I know about, but you said that they will refuse to sell. If you really want something from KS you can have it through an distributor like  Batterfly for ex.  @simone.pignatti . You can request support to them, they will open a case to KS as a business and get the support. KS cannot refuse them.

No optional SENT trigger?
Why would Keysight leave this out?

There are 3 kinds of people in this world, those who can count and those who can not.

Back in the lab, 9pm, Mrs EEVblog probably not happy  >:(
I was going to control the instrument via LAN, and I can, but I can't see a way to do a direct remote screen cursor thing  |O
This is a huge bummer if it doesn't have it, everyone else has that now.
All I can do it take screen grabs and send SCPI commands.
And with the Displayport not functional, I have no way to do any screen capture stuff  >:(

Did you try using standalone VNC client to connect to the scope?
That should work...

I'm missing a trigger jitter spec from the datasheet. OTOH it looks like there is a way to set the memory depth / samplerate manually. I hope this mode doesn't disable most of the features though as on other Keysight models and that it can force the HD3 to use the memory length you selected.
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.

Ciao Dave, it works fine with us with a free VNC
I made a short video you can see here https://youtu.be/Ympe9uJDDWA
I don't know how to share this video otherwise.

Yes, works, and it's way better than the 3000X implementation

Ciao Mike, this is a good question we also asked to Keysight when they first presented us the HD3.
It looks like the web server like other brands was not implemented.

Most of the modern scopes do now. They should add it.
BTW, screen is fixed 1280x800 due to the Megazoon V ASIC. There is a "Scale GUI" option, but it just changes the font size a bit, not resolution. I expected that.

Hello,

the link provided in the manual: http://www.keysight.com/find/HD3-Series-examples
is unfortunately “No Longer Available”. Does this mean that the HD3 is already obsolete?

Best regards

Hello,

thanks Dave for the data. It seems that the data format is not new, so the old importAgilentBin.m is still working. My values for Vpp are a little different, but maybe the files are not exactly the same as the images.

Best regards

Shooting the first impression video now, and yes I will edit it.
Anyway, found my first problem, the waveform veritcal knob doesn't work properly when you have math turned on. As in I can't even get it to the bottom of the screen if I move it too quickly!
Also, it only has a 40MHz channel bandwidth selection, not 20MHz. Why?
That's twice the bandwidth, bigger is better.
What do you mean you want to compare your measurement?

But not comparable anymore with all the 20 MHz bandwidth PSU noise measurements out there.

It seems that even that 40 MHz is an digital filter. Not an analog filter in actual front end. Actual order of lowpass filter is not specified.

Each analog input channel has a 40 MHz BW Limit option that lets you disable or
enable a bandwidth limit (using a digital filter). Limiting the channel bandwidth
lets you remove unwanted high frequency noise from the waveform and increase
the number of bits of vertical resolution.

Definitely any measurement out there that was specified with 20MHz will not come out the same on this scope.
