I have the original DSO138. It was just what I chose and brought me to many great places such as EEVblog(Dave's a pure blast). I've always been "into" electronics since I was a kid, but now I really caught the bug
(Gotta do
something to keep me from going crazy via 2 kids) lol
Anyways, I was originally interested in building a custom DC voltage regulator for my bikes so I can put LED headlights on them without using any batteries. I was really interested in viewing and demonstrating the waveform from the rewound coil all the way through up to the headlight. Sort of a good learning process.
I have gone ahead and purchased a Korad PSU a Jye Tech signal generator and a Yee-ha!
936 to upgrade the 25 year old radio shack type soldering iron.
I plan on designing some sort of CDI tester where I can have adjustable "RPM" (I'm guessing variable frequency) and can't afford a
good scope (have my eye on the Siglent SDS1104X-E), so i'll have to stick to the fun,
cheap, hackable stuff and Jye Tech seems to fit the bill perfectly. And besides, with these "cheap" items I have money for components lol
Glad to have found this
renew(ed) world and will be posting lots of questions in the newbie forum
