Thanks for catching that.

I got the 10 ohm figure from this YouTube video, at about 1:21 he talks about one of the lights being out and using a 10-ohm resistor to bridge the circuit.

The good bulb measures 5.6 ohms, of course that doesn't work for circuit design with incandescent bulbs. :-)

All right, I think it's sorted. ;)

Thanks again for all the help!

Here are pictures of: the repaired cable folded so it does not ride out and contact the chassis cover, an extra accessory that I found in the rubbish bin at work, the signal from a P6137 probe connected to the calibration point with "Auto" pressed, and automatic voltage and frequency measurements from the same.

I'd use a 1W resistor for the 43 Ohm resistor, based on my calculations the power dissipation across the resistor will be ~560mW. This info. is only helpful if you plan to temporarily fix the lamp issue. Good luck  :)  http://www.ebay.com/itm/50pcs-43-ohm-Metal-Film-Resistor-1W-1-New-1-Watt-High-Quality-/300856860973?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item460c77612d
