Suggest OWON B35T+ and B41T+ which are crazy cheap onboard data loggers w/BlueTooth that seems to work.

Any chance of adding a "Make" or "Manufacturer" column to facilitate spreadsheet sorts? (If these tables were not being continuously updated, I'd do it myself. But I guess I'm too lazy to do it every time you update. My bad.)

I threw together a crude Excel formula to populate a Make column inserted at the beginning: formula for row2, column1:

=IF(B2="","",IF(A1="",B2,A1))

FYI,

The OWON B35T and B35T+ are substantially different.

The "+" indicates onboard data logging - other wise a PC or BlueTooth device is needed to log.

The "T" means True RMS.

The 35 is a 3.5 digit display and the B41T+ is a 4 digit.

Hi, I'm new here. I've seen Dave's videos on yt. I'm en electronic engineering student, and I need a digital multimeter, I've tried to look for several options but I don't know which to buy, my budget is around $200 and I was even saving for a Agilent (keysight) U1273A, a friends has one and it looks and works really well but the price is on >$400 and I need the multimeter more than I'm quick enough to save money, you know how it is beng student.

I've heard Ketsight and Fluke are the top of the line on dmm, a professor even told me he have had a Fluke for more than 20 years before he lost it but with a high reputations comes a high price. As I was saying I study electronic engineering, I also work with arduino and (I would like to) raspberry pi.

I guess besides the basic functions like measuring voltage, current, resistance, continuity, I would like to measure capacitace, and some sort of other values, again, I'm not very 'into' multimeter's world so I don't know what I would need in the future. With that budget what can you guys (and girls out there) recommend me?

At about 200$, the UNI-T UT171B is full featured and pretty good value for the price, if you can't find a decent second hand Fluke 87V in the US for that price.

UNI-T UT 181a:
has actual resolution 1uV (AC and DC), not 10uV as in spreadsheet.

The last file was downloaded a thousand times.
That's as good a benchmark as any to release the latest one, or rather latest ones, as I had to split the file to circumvent the 1000KB limit for attachments.

As always, some new meters and some corrections.

The bench meter file has a new column to cater for DC current accuracy.
Often, meters with high DC volt accuracy, disappoint when switched to their DC current range.
The published accuracy figures are entered in the column, with a cell color coding based on their low current nA accuracy.

Wytnucls, I am one of the spreadsheet fans and it is a welcome news to split it between the Bench/HH.

I believe in contributing to lighten the load, therefore I am working to add the specs for the Racal dana 5001 (and maybe 5002) and will send you details later today or tomorrow.

Mostly for legal reasons.
For the user, it shouldn't matter, as all the information is still there.

And btw, one can't even mark rows or columns anymore.
Given the dimensions of the tables this make the use much harder.

There is a column (UL) already for UL, GS, CSA listings (3rd from last).
I will move it closer to the CAT rating for better readability.
The claimed CAT rating is greyed out for meters with no independent listing.

I'm in the market for a DMM and these spreadsheets are incredibly useful, thank you.

I think there may be a slight mistake in the U1241C/U1242C specs - the uA is listed as "10nA" but in the datasheet the resolution is listed as 0.1µA, unless I am reading something incorrectly, which is possible.

EDIT

It looks like the specs changed between some datasheet revisions.

The above figure is 0.01µA in a datasheet that states that it was "Published in USA, October 20, 2015" whereas in the datasheet currently on keysight.com, which states that it was "Published in USA, February 17, 2017" the figure is 0.1µA.

Presumably the latest, reduced resolution figure is the correct one.

Locking tables is utterly pointless. They can be unlocked with a text editor: Load spreadsheet into OpenOffice, save with ods extension, replace extension with zip, unpack zip, load content.xml into text editor, locate protection="true" (there might by more than one), replace with protection="false". Great protection, isn't it? Then save content.xml, repack as zip, restore .ods extension.

Actually, to be honest I hadn't even noticed the protection at all because I just uploaded the spreadsheet to Google Drive and opened it with Google Sheets which lets me edit it freely.

I don't know for sure why you want it protected, but my guess is that you're worried about modified copies with the same filename floating around? (Clearly that could be a bad thing for everyone.) To defend against that you might consider distributing your master reference document as a Google sheet that's world readable. Anybody looking at it via the URL knows that they're looking at the original copy, and and anybody who wants an offline or editable copy for whatever reason can download a copy in Excel or CSV format.
