Can you help me find this Instrument?
« on: October 02, 2024, 01:47:42 am »
I have a Triplett model 7700 frequency counter.
It is new in box. See pics attached.
Curiously, I can find ZERO info on the web for this instrument. No pictures, no documentation.
I reached out to Triplett Corporation Engineering and they only have the Operation Manual which I already have as it came in the box.
The internal IC chips have date codes from 1985.
It is very well made and accurately measures 10Mhz.

I am reaching out to this community in hopes someone has some knowledge about this particular Triplett branded product.

My real interest has been in obtaining a schematic. But now I am simply curious to know if anyone in this world has memory of this counter. As for now, it seems it is one of a kind!

Let me know if you have knowledge to share regarding this model 7700 Triplett Frequency Counter.

Nice unit.  I hope you find the schematic, but unfortunately I can't be of any help.

It reminds me a lot of the Data Precision instruments.  Maybe the actual manufacturer is the same.  I have a DP 5845 counter (a little older than yours) and I can't find any information about it either.  :-//

i think  it's a re-branded product ???

similarities with leader 823   based on the same ic  but vfd screen / display

i searched a lot    but   leader 822 823 824  models does come out often,  but  others popular Hz counters where based on Intersil chip ...Samsung Goldstar ...

attached   11C91 prescaler

i understand your need, be careful,  dont play in it   ...  your have hard to find parts,  use anti static garnments ...  :-+

It is close. :-+
It would be SOAR FC-882A.

The original product was SOAR FC-882, which seems to have been rebadged and supplied to yokogawa same name.
SOAR went bankrupt in 1988.

WOW Squadchannel! You found it! This FC-882A is it. The faceplate has the exact same display and controls. Every button is the same function as my Triplett 7700. The only visible difference is in the printing on the faceplate.

So, now I know my baby's parents. And I know approximate age.

I appreciate everyone's input. You have been very helpful.

So, Yes it is clearly a rebranded product which also explains the lack of awareness by the Triplett Engineering group.

It is not my primary Counter. I purchased it from ebay primarily for it's size. My HP 5334A is what I use, but it is very large with a permanent place on the bench. This Triplett is rugged and small enough to easily travel.

Cheers to you all.
