Newlec NLINS3 megohmmeter quick teardown and mod.

Picked this up cheapish and untested on the auction website so here it is:

Identical to the Avo Megger BM223 less LCD backlight and a more CCCP look to it.

Arrived working and good enough to call calibrated.

250V range outputs 308V open circuit.
500V range outputs 609V open circuit.
1kV range outputs 1.18kV open circuit.
100 ohms range outputs 4.6V open circuit.
Short-circuit current is 1.73mA on megohm ranges, 200mA on 100ohm range.
Digital display reads up to 1Gohm, bargaph quite a bit more.

The rotary switch was disassembled for cleaning, it was a PITA to get back in place...

While I was in there and thinking it was unfair that the Megger BM223 has a backlight but not this beautiful red meter, I checked if I could add one easily.
It was done easily as it was already in there, one of the stopper pins to the rotary switch only needed shifting a notch further to enable the option.

Now I'd like a "rotate to lock" push-button anyone know if miniature models can be found? Something that would fit without heavy modification.
