Brymen in phasing out the BM22s - Replacement?!
« on: February 14, 2021, 05:43:49 pm »
Hi all,

Looks like Brymen is phasing out the BM22s (but not the BM25s and the BM27s):
http://www.brymen.com/PD02BM20s_22s.html
I was looking to buy one of these, but can't find them anywhere (Not interested by BM25s or BM27s).

Did anyone have any information about a hypothetical replacement? Did Brymen make any announcement?!

I can garantee that a lot of people would be interested in an all-new pocket Brymen!

So i hope that they will come back with a nice replacement to the BM22S: i got one of these years ago, and it served me very well (can't say the same of my Sefram 7303 - AKA Benning MMP3)...

What specific functions are you needing on the BM22s?  There is also the Amprobe variant, the AM-42 that you might be able to locate.

Personally I am a huge fan of the Amprobe AM-47, although it does not have the hold function...

Function needed: basic stuff that you find in pocket multimeter: Volts, ohms, continuity, diode
Amprobe AM-42 looks very nice! But can't find it anyware...
Instead, find this:

That one looks very nice: Analog bar graph (20 updates/sec), 3.4V diode test, CAT II 600V, gold probes, no fiddly dial... it's all good.

Although a bit less featured than the Amprobe, there is also the Sanwa PM3 which seems to be.a reasonable meter (I have its big brother PM300 bought from Dave, which is an excellent meter).

Oh, the "whys" of the datasheets... The information is there not to be an axiomatic truth, but instead each speck of data must be slowly inhaled while carefully performing a deep search inside oneself to find the true metaphysical sense...

Those are all things the BM25/27 do. So what features specific to the BM22 are you missing?

None but : auto mode very slow, max ohm:  6MOhm, bips on ohm mesurement (<20 ohm in ohms mode, < 160 ohms on auto mode), 2 min to auto power off (yes: 2 min!) and annoying on/off push button...

Hi all,

Finally get one BM22S (a Meterman rebranded one to be exact).
Work flawlessly, surpass the BM27S in every aspect (but no continuity). :-+
