Datron Wavetek 1281 and 1271 Firmware Revision levels?
« on: July 17, 2020, 03:25:11 pm »
Going by XDEVs excellent 1281 article, the 1281 seems to have Rev 3.12 as the newest firmware, the 1271 Rev 2.10

Has anyone have or seen anything newer?

Yeah, sure. But from Xdevs website it seems like i need some sort of custom eeprom adapter, right? Do you know if there is any easier way to dump eeprom, maybe with arduino, or thru GPIB?

I know it is possible to backup the nvram via GPIB, but I've seen nothing that suggests you can also dump the main firmware. I'm thinking you'd need a proper eprom reader. Older 1281's tend to have four 27C512's, newer units have two 27C010's.
Do you have an EPROM reader of any kind with a DIP socket?

i have two 27C010.  I'm pretty sure i can find a compatible socket for that chip. Do you know what the easiest way to dump firmware without any special tools or programmers?
