Gossen Metrawatt IR to USB Transceiver
« on: February 09, 2016, 09:12:48 pm »
Hi,

does anyone have this IR to USB adapter (I think thats all it is) and can do some pictures of the circuit? Or is there something like a circuit available? I just got a Gossen X-Tra cheap on eBay and I'd like to use the data logging functionality.. but 271€ for a simple IR to USB adapter is to much for that  :palm:

Or Is it possible to use a simple IR to USB adapter? Did anyone try this?

Thanks :)

The communication is infrared using the SIR encoding also used by IrDA (signal inverted, bits have only 3/16 of the normal length). However, an ordinary USB to IrDA adaptor does not work, I tried.

Someone else built a replacement for the "Starline Series", which includes the X-Tra:   See here!
