Oh no, you don't get what i mean, :\
The HP we know of in the yesteryears is dead, they've gone to Agilent.
Yes. And the topic DMM/calc is outdated too. I really don't know what your point is.

The original HP calculator division still exists at HP (albeit much smaller and less funded than days gone by). None of the calculator people ever went to Agilent.

AFAIK, Cyrille de Brébisson is still working there.
Yes, Kinpo manufacture their calcs, but their high end ones are designed in-house by the HP calculator group.

Did you know the HP calculator division was at one point based in Australia?

Dave.

Took me a couple of months to find one but it should be here in about a week.
I'll let you know how it works.

I have an Aussie designed HP49G in front of me right now running HP50G firmware. I have another 4 or 5 spare ones. I used to have more, but I gave them away.

There is a chance to pick them up super cheap as they had a huge problem with an electrolytic cap inside that leaked stopping the calculator start. Replace the capacitor, and you have a fully working HP49G! I got HP49G 8 calculators for something like $40. The early models had unuseable keyboards and unreadable displays until you removed the protective plastic cover, but luckily, I think most of the ones with the capacitor problem are later models.

Definitely not the same build quality as the earlier injection molded key calculators, but it is still my most often used calculator.

What an awesome tool!
Why does no one produce these? They seem pretty simple and I bet a lot of people would buy one  :-DMM

Just arrived!  Getting ready for the Kutztown Pennsylvania antique radio show later this week but I'll give a full report on the accuracy when I return next week.

I don't think there is any competing with that, does make you wonder why one of these is not on the market anymore.

I were going to do that, I'd be trying the 121GW.

(Great necropost, by the way.)
