Hello,
I am looking for a good handheld multimeter for use in the field. Application is mostly aviation (up to 30V) and automation engineering with current, voltage and temperature (PT100/1000/Type K) measurements.
Right now I use a Keysight U1273A, quality is good, specs ok for me and I even like the display. It does the job, but I think there are meters out there which can do a bit more.
What I am looking for:
- Specs at least as U1273A
- Overall size as small as possible, U1273 is ok
- Quick startup
- Math function
- Big display with secondary measurement (e.g. math function)
- Very quick peak detect
- Very quick continuity tester
- Fast Autorange
- Good built quality
- Should be known to calibration labs, with standard or well documented calibration procedures.
Until now I found the Fluke 289 and the Metrix MTX 3292/3293.
The Fluke is well known, good quality, very good specs. Price is ok, but it is big and heavy. And it takes a long time to startup.
Then I stumbled over the Metrix 3292/3293. Price is a bit higher than the Fluke, but it is really small (even smaller than the U1273A).
Specs are are appox. the same as U1273A and has all the wanted features. Even a spec mode, where it displays its accuracy depending on the measured values. Really great, saves me the time to recalculate everything.
I have not found much about this meter on the internet, maybe someone is using it here?
Are there any other good alternatives out there which meet my demands? Or is the MTX 3292 already on of the best?
Thanks,
Magnus
