I didn't know Brazilians speak Japanese .

We have the largest Japanese community outside of Japan (USA comes in 2nd), so there is definitely a huge influence of Japanese culture in Brazil, specially in Sao Paolo, where most electronic industried are located, including Hikari.

I don't know if its a score or not but I bought an Agilent 81104A dual output 80 MHz pulse/pattern generator with the output modules not passing the self test for $199.00. I am looking forward to receiving it and opening it up to see what mystery awaits me inside.

That's remarkable. My knowledge in the Japanese language is limited to what I've read in "The Book of Five Rings" and the terminology used in Judo, which I practiced for 12 years (got up to brown belt).

I love my Simpson 260 - at least the way it looks sitting on my shelf...  They are beautiful meters and actually still useful in ways that digital meters aren't.  Forum member w2aew has some excellent youtube videos where he demonstrates this. Truth is, I keep forgetting to use mine in those situations. But I do love the way it looks.

I've also got a Simpson 260 either series 1 or 2, I don't remember which at the moment. That one was a swap meet pickup for 5 dollars. I've not messed with that one due to it having a kind of sticky movement, but it's in good shape too.

And for the 3rd analog meter, I have a Triplett 630. That one needs a new 72 meg wire wound for the high voltage range.

All the equipment works fine, 5386 had the 115/230 switch set to 230. Checked it against my GPSDO, spot on.

Agilent branded U1273A meter new in the box for 200 USD off of craigslist, whee. So far it seems like it might be nice enough the trusted Fluke 87V gets sold...

edit - felt like living dangerously and updated the firmware on the meter with a home brew USB to IR cable while holding it against the meter - worked just fine.

@The Steve; I have the older U1253b, i really like OLED, the contrast and viewing angle is what does it for me. I have had no fading issues with my U1253B or the OLED in my car.

Seems you've been lucky thus far then.    

I chose the U1252B specifically for the LCD display to avoid the OLED deterioration & death issue.

Not much of a score, but I picked up a Tek A6302 current probe with a TM501 and AM503 for a couple hundred.  I wasn't too happy when the TM501 was bashed in shipping and the AM503 was nonfunctional until another auction for just the probe went for $300.  The probe works fine (I had a couple of other AM503s kicking around and was able to verify that) so I think I'll call it good, bash the 501 back into shape and use the 503 for parts.

Got a Tek 321a for $35.  I always liked the Tek ceramic strip construction, but wasn't fond of vacuum tubes.  This is an all transistor (except for a  nuvistor input stage) 6MHz scope.  You can even run it off of D batteries (for 1/2 hour).  I needed another scope like a hole in the head, but this is a work of art.  It's semifunctional (there's a trace), but needs work.  A nice project for a day off if I ever get one.

For $50 from work, since it was deemed old and not worth the effort to use/troubleshoot, I scored:

• 4 Tek TM502A power supplies. All seem to work fine.
• 4 Tek AM503B Current Probe Amplifiers. All seem to work fine.
• 2 Tek A6302 current probes. 1 works, the other doesn't.
• 2 HP 1142A probe control modules with HP1141 diff probes and accessories/attenuators. One diff probe seems damaged.

I'm making room on my bench to play with these new toys!
Might sell the extras/damaged on eBay to try to get my $50 back, or more!!

A HP 8690B Sweep Oscillator with a 8698B plug in. Seems to work pretty well.

A Motorola branded Systron Donner 500mhz freq counter with nixie tubes. It works also, but I can't seem to find anything on it.

Got these 2 HTs from my uncle:

- Yaesu VX-8DR  + several original Yaesu accessories: recharging base, speaker/mike, USB cable, extra battery, car charger, extra antenna, and a few more items. Everything NIB, never opened! 

- Yaesu FT-11R. Used. Works, but I suspect the batteries are dead and aren't holding charge for more than 5 minutes. One of the batteries isn't original (generic 3rd party) and doesn't even charge when inserted in the FT-11R.

An Icom IC215, with a full set of crystals, and of course a dead audio power amplifier stage. Going to pick up a few UPC 575 audio amplifiers at a local store if they still have them this weekend. as the old one has a hole in it. Will pick up a set of capacitors as well, Icom used 10V capacitors on it in the output stage, and I want to replace them ( along with the other power capacitors) with 16V ones, along with putting a new output socket on it, and a decent power input protection, using a power ( old PC PSU one so free) diode. Plus replace the magic missing screws, and tidy it up a little.

Might even try to see if I will put the battery pack in it, but might use the space for other uses and make it a desktop unit. Icom made this thing with a power input centre negative.......

Agilent 6632B power supply sold for parts and not working. The ad stated the unit displayed "BAD INT" and then turned off. I noticed in one of the pics that the input voltage was listed as 220V with a black sharpie marker. I figured I had at least 50/50 odds the supply was tested on 120 VAC but wired for 220 VAC. I threw in a best offer of 25 bucks and it was accepted. Received the supply today, powered it on and sure enough I got the "BAD INT". I then opened it up and verified it was wired for 220 VAC. I moved the jumpers to 120VAC and it now powers up and works perfect. Did a quick cleaning to it. I now have a nice 0-20 volt 5 amp power supply that will also sink up to 100 watts.

Just got a hp 16702a with 16717a timing module AND cables/pods for $200.  For some reason, the cables and pods always disappear on these.

Curiously, it was cheaper to get the 16702a with a screen than a 16700a that wasn't a stripped chassis without.

I got a Tektronix 7603 mainframe with two 7A26 and 7B92 plugins for 55 EURO + shipping ( total 70 euro). It is working ... but need cleaning and calibration.
