Finally got a deal on something I've been wanting for several years - a Keysight 1147B 50 MHz 15 amp current probe. As is very common with these the original case was not included, so I treated it to a Pelican 1170.

Was having some fun probing current through a resistor using my B2901A SMU as a source.

The 1147B is a really nice probe.
And the zero correct function does work much better than on the 1147A.

The 1147B is a really nice probe.

Interesting - I don't know why but I thought the main difference was just RoHS compliance between the A and B.

I am sure there was a redesign to correct the zero reference but I have no confirmation for this.
Because every 1147A I had was not correctable with the wheel and some had a large offset and needed repair.
And every 1147B I had was perfectly adjustable around zero amp with really good accuracy.

Hey @nctnico - my local agent was asking for over £4,000 for the Keysight 53230A so I looked at eBay and went for this 53132A, which is a little over £1,000/-.  Will let you know how this pans out, thanks.

Time to bump this one up again 

Finally bit the bullet and bought a LeCroy DDA120 off of ebay as a parts unit, no testing, no line cord etc etc.  I figured I could use the power supply to repair an LC584 that's been apart on my bench (also bought as a repair project).  If I got a power supply and the CRT I figured it was well worth it.

Plugged it in and turns out to be 100% functional.  I think the "Disk Drive Analyzer" moniker throws non-technical people and they have no idea what they're dealing with.  This one came from Maxtor by way of Dovebid.  The seller probably bought a pallet of them, they've been sitting on ebay for months.  Every month or so I'd do the rounds sending out offers and finally got a bite.

Now I can bundle up the 584 and put it on the shelf as parts and start looking for a set of probes (which will probably cost more than the scope).  That makes for one easy repair.

Yes it's big and heavy and a little loud, but I have the bench space, it has tons of math options + FFT and where else are you going to find a 8Gs/sec color scope for $300?

The odds are that it suffers PSU / Acquisition board interconnect problems and the transport got you a temporary fix. I find it hard to believe that they didn't find at least a power cord to power it up.

I'm well aware of that power supply rot and I'll be opening it up to take a look at it.

Still, it's not unusual to buy pallets off of a Dovebid auction when someone is clearing house and try to flip them for parts.  Well, I'm certainly not going to complain

Just got a "doesn't power up" HP 5334B on eBay, with a really low offer accepted. It has the 10811A OCXO, but I paid much less than for what I could buy the OCXO itself.
And the nice surprise is that once I changed the blown fuse, it works. I also has the 1.3GHz channel C. Only question is what am I going to do with my 7th counter?

Nice score - congrats.  And as to what to do with your seventh counter, well, keep the top surface of it clear so you'll have a spot to rest your eighth when you get it, and get back to ebuy!

Managed to get a full working HP 732A + HP 478 Thermistor mount. Price was very reasonable. Now I can meaningfully check a number of my instruments. Is there much info on change in HF response of these over time? Can I trust the efficiency plot on the mount?  I'll be using it mostly for applications below 1 GHz so it won't be that important.

Well, if you're willing to pony up about 1.5k or so you can get 478 thermistor mounts calibrated and repaired by Keysight. They are still in use as primary rf power standards (if you dig around, you will find Keysight sells a modern rf power meter that uses thermistor mounts). When I considered having mine calibrated, the nice gentleman said they have hoarded a supply of spare parts for them so they are still fixable....for a price.

I did precisely that just last week. Found one in oz for just over 300 bucks, in very good cosmetic condition.

On powerup it had error 3, checksum failure of "non volatile RAM CAL".
Doing an initialization seem to get rid of the error but now I have to calibrate it.

The VFD is a little dim and uneven in brightness so I've pulled it apart to have a squiz and found a toasted and cracked tantalum.
Haven't measured the others but hopefully changing these out might improve the display

Yes, I managed to get it out on a scrap pass along with a Agilent 34401A, another Agilent 53131A counter, a Fluke 45, a Keithly 177, a Lambda power supply and a big bag of test leads and cables.
