I meant that I don't even know what this device is intended to achieve. The world of electronics is full of tools I didn't even know existed. Quite regularly that's followed by absolutely not being able to do without one any longer

The CMU 200 is tailored for use in mobile phone development and production. Unfortunately this meant R&S cut a lot of stuff out so it is a bit of a poor man's spectrum analyser / RF generator solution with limited abilities.

Got to love pre Christmas Saturday Postal deliveries. Weekend toys to play with 

Cambridge Resistor and Capacitor Decade boxes. $50 AUpesos

Unused Cambridge Panel mount 50 ohm FSD bridge meter. $15 AUpesos

HP 5381A Frequency counter $35 AUpesos

HP 4440B Capacitor Box $65 AUpesos

Quick check of the counter looks good for a stock XO but heading for an upgrade to OCXO and a couple of blown LED segments. Thread/Teardown/"Improvements" will be done.

HP Capacitor Box will get a teardown shot or two minimum. It looks less rough in person than the evilbay photos and looked like Repair of Plastic and maybe even a repaint but not needed.

Cambridge boxes switch clean and ready to use. Quick check of the Resistor one shows 0.017 Ohms at Zero and well under 0.1% across all ranges.

The Bridge Meter just looked cool

I just bought a Dynaload DLF 100-100-1500 made by Transistor Devices (TDI). That is a DC load capable of dealing with up to 100V, 100A and a total power of 1500W. My other DC load which can handle more than 80V can only handle 500W so I have to put a (big) resistor in series when I need to get rid of more power.

Ofcourse it has some issues but I offered way less than the Ebay seller was asking. The sticker says 'working, no display' but I think there will be some more issues. I'm probably going to make the fans temperature controlled. Fortunately the service manuals (with schematics) for almost all of the DC loads made by TDI are available online so maintaining/repairing this DC load shouldn't be hard.

I'll make a thread on it for sure but it first has to travel a couple of thousand kilometers from the Phillipines and be stuck in customs for a week (probably longer due to the holidays).

"New" handheld DMM turned up today, a Fluke 187 with original box, test leads and manual for 20€(+6€ postage) on the French Craigslist. Decent working meter for the price!
It's having a mV battle against a Metrix MX56 (about 35€) and rebadged Byrmen BM857 (about 50€). They are all 50k count meters with similar accuracy.

Today's new toy is an HP5315A universal counter.  Late 1985 model and it's as clean inside as the day it was manufactured.  Gotta love sealed boxes that don't need fans!  I'd forgotten just how loud an HP8568B is.

Same for me. It turned out that those people egging me to try automation tools did not have 200+ items on their watchlist continually with multiple interdependencies (if I get this, I'll need that too, but not that....)

HP 54616A on eBay for USD167 plus 45USD shipping. Absolutely gorgeous sample. This was the last one at a reasonable price before Dave started the feeding frenzy with his repair video.
