Yeah. Probes are cheap and for some reason potential scope buyers are always obsessed with probes.

Well.. that is generalising it quite a bit: garden variety Chinese probes might be cheap, but real ones are not (in general).
Hint:
Guess who makes the OEM probes for most Asian scopes....the same manufacturer that makes the "garden variety".  ;)

I was only hoping to get a couple things for myself and maybe some scopes to turn around and resell to recoup some of the cost. Now I've had to go and turn myself into a part-time used test equipment salesman  :palm:

Haha, yes, it's easy to get carried away. It's just too fun. Ah, so those listings are yours. Cool.

I actually haven't listed anything yet. Been trying to pass on as many as I can locally. There are quite a few items from the same auction up on eBay right now. I got the largest lot of 1102e's from the 1st ITT Tech auction, but there were much larger lots at the last one. Seemed like many bidders were getting them for institutions. It was absolutely insane watching what some of this stuff went for. Some really good prices and then other items that people just bid through the roof. The spectrum analysers seemed to work everyone up in a frenzy to the point they continued bidding the same price per unit on some similar looking at a glance analog scopes. 2 hours later the same model scopes were going for $2 per unit. It was really depressing seeing the bidding on unused graduation caps & gowns. The craziest thing was seeing a lot of 18 pallets of textbooks go for over $12,000. From what I understand those books were ITT Tech specific and therefore worthless for resale.

Can you point out some links to these ITT Technical Institute Ebay auctions?

Note that I contacted the official auction site, but never got any response on my email.

Wow - I just looked. Lots of older but decent looking GW Instek scopes and power supplies. Many 100MHz scopes under $100 and triple output linear supplies under $50.  Not bad deals for a new hobbyist on a tight budget.

Just had a look and those GW Instek tripple power supplies look pretty nice actually. Not far off my Rigol DP832.

But i really have to stop buying powersuplies, i already almost ever use some of mine. :-\

From last month's ITT Tech auction:
2 x GW Instek GOS-6112 Oscilloscopes
2 x GW Instek GDS-830 Oscilloscopes
2 x GW Instek GDS-2102 Oscilloscopes
2 x GW Instek GDM-8251A Bench Multimeters
3 x GW Instek GPD-3303S DC Power Supplies
23 x Rigol DS1102E Oscilloscopes
2 x Rigol DS1102D Oscilloscopes
3 x Rigol DG1022A Function/Arbitrary Waveform Generators

First real auction I've done and even though I did very well, I've got to admit it scared hell out of me. I liked it way too much. I was only hoping to get a couple things for myself and maybe some scopes to turn around and resell to recoup some of the cost. Now I've had to go and turn myself into a part-time used test equipment salesman  :palm:

I will be in the US next couple weeks and am interested in a function generator, in case you're selling any of them. PM me if you are, and the price. I will be in TX.

Not for the older Tek I have they don't

Hmmm.
I know of at least 2 probe Asian probe manufacturers, one of which makes a large range including actives and they are little known of. Despite this the make a large # for many scope manufacturers.

I'd say Ebay is getting swamped with gear from the ITT Tech auction. I'm eye balling some items but they have to go for low prices. IOW: If you can't sell your equipment now then you are probably better off storing it for a year or longer in order to wait for the prices go up again.
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.

You can say that again. It's a flood. Good time to grab some stuff if they fit your needs.

I couldn't help myself.  I snagged one of the GW Instek GDM 8251A bench meters on eBay. From the ITT auction I suspect. Many more listed. I was able to get it for $95 + $20 shipping.  It will be nice to have a dual display bench meter for simultaneous voltage and current measurements. Photo from the listing. Mine should arrive next week.

Nice score. You'll have to check if it displays volts and amps at the same time, and if it does, measures them simultaneously or interleaves them. Some time ago I saw a bench meter, don't remember the brand/model, and it had a pretty loud relay that constantly toggled between the voltage and current inputs. Most dual display meters I've seen just show two aspects of the same type of measurement (e.g., ACV & DCV or ACV & frequency).

Yeah, before buying it, I downloaded the manual and confirmed that you can measure and display both voltage and current (AC or DC). Not sure if it measures simultaneously or interleaves but for my purposes it won't make much difference (though a loud relay would be annoying).  Either way, for the price I don't think I can go wrong.

It is nice it can do that but for some reason it can't display power which would be so nice for measuring efficiency of DC-DC converters.

Yes, TEA - the answer to TGAS ( Test Gear Acquisition Syndrome).  What are those 12 steps again..?

Here - as a certifiable TGAS sufferer (who am I kidding - I'm not suffering - I enjoy it!!) - let me flesh that ellipsis section out:

5. Buy op/service manuals for test gear on evilBay
6. Troubleshoot test gear
7. Seek out obsolete/discontinued components to repair test gear  |O
8. Read nixie thread and/or look at old HP Instrumentation catalogs   >:D >:D >:D >:D
9. Repeat steps 2 through 7, now searching for older, heavier, more expensive to ship things   :o
....
12. Buy or build more shelves to hold test gear   :-+
13. (or later) - build first circuit   :-DD :-DD

-Pat
If it jams, force it.  If it breaks, you needed a new one anyway...

14. Repeat steps 2 to 12 numerous times, either till the house is full ( then move to a bigger house) or the wife leaves.

Oldie but still goodie imo, HP 1141A differential probe and HP 1142A for the probe's power and control box.
