Recapping Tektronix 7904, 7844 etc. power supply
« on: October 29, 2022, 04:01:43 pm »
Dear friends,
I ask your help for the power supply of my 7844 (that is almost identical to 7904 and others). I arrived to it for a problem in the readout, with characters that dances in a strange way, but that is not the point.
The problem for which I am asking your help is the recapping of the power supply, that I am investigating because its ripple value is definitely not good. The table below shows the values (in mV) I measured with a 7A22 differential vertical amplifier.

The question is: did anyone recapped a power supply like that? I dismounted the power supply and:
  • I am not going to replace the two large 900uF capacitors because they seem to have maintained their value (I measured about 1300uF for both);
  • I am going to replace all the other electrolytic capacitors in the rectifier board.
What is your opinion about all that above?

Thanks
