DSOX2002A vs DSOX1102G (keysight X2000 vs X1000)
« on: April 16, 2017, 02:15:54 pm »
Does the new X1000 make make the 2 channel low end x2000 series redundant?

The X2002A is 40% more expensive than the X1102G, can anyone square this price difference for a home lab scenario use case? I can't, but I am still pulled to the 2002.

Does anyone have any insights into how they compare that you would like to share? Or undocumented differences that could be important day to day.....

P.S I have become sensitised recently to software quirks and poor implementations of features that are technically there. I have a rigol DS1074 and I find the way it does the decode nearly useless.

Well there's the 8 channel MSO connector on the 2000 series crying out to be unlocked in software along with all the decodes and other options. All just a modified command line away!

Yes, I've thought about that. However I have been unable to find any x2000 logic source probes for sale for a reasonable price.

I have also heard the x2000 does not decode on it's digital channels which seems to me to make the MSO features fairly useless (correct me if I am wrong).

Be sure to look at GW Instek's GDS2000E or MSO2000E series. IMHO they are a better buy compared to the oscilloscopes you have been considering so far.

There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.

I considered DSOX2002A series, but after announcing DSOX1102A bought it for my home lab. My bandwidth limit far away below from 200 MHz, so I started from initial 70 MHz model.
If you'll want upgrade it in the future up to 100 MHz - price your 70 MHz gear + option will be exactly same as retail price for 100 MHz. In compare with Tek TBS1000, Keysight DSOX1102A just beat it as infant.
Keysight also have cheap price for initial series differential and current probes.
As for Rigol and etc.. Before Keysight I ordered Rigol 2072A, but after reading some treads 100+ pages about FW issues and etc. on this forum I canceled my order immediately. This tools for those who want to have ""all + something else"" for 800 bucks, but never will be have right oscilloscope without glitch.

These oscilloscopes from GW-Instek perform very well, but they don't look so nice.
GW-Instek probably uses a designer from North-Korea instead of Taiwan :)

But no worries... Maybe I have found the ideal Chinese design partner for GW-Instek to make their scopes look better. The company that can help them out is called Jinqce :)
