Keysight UXR in the wild
« on: May 20, 2022, 06:07:26 pm »
In Linus Tech Tips' latest video I couldn't help but notice a Keysight UXR oscilloscope. It's such a ridiculous machine I'd never ever think to see one actually being used because I don't work in a top-secret lab.

I'm also mad he just walks past it like it was any other oscilloscope.

I don't think he even know what an oscilloscope is, unless it gets one from free from a company to promote it.

You're not nice!

That's for sure, he's sponsored by Intel (well somebody has to make a living of a job).
But I guess he's not less knowledgeable than the average PC/computer enthusiast.
The whole series he has done at Intel is really good fun and entertainment:

Pff it only goes to 110? Mine goes to 200!

Seriously though, come on, I'm sure Linus knows what an oscilloscope is. Given the whole "LTT Labs" arc, I bet there's at least one running around and I suspect he has gone from looking for good reasons to buy one to saying "no" to employees who come to him with reasons why they definitely need a 4-channel 110GHz UXR.

Well given what else was shown in these video series the UXR really is not more than any other common item.
That facility (Fab 28) probably has a pricetag higher than some small countries BNP!!!

Yeah, they have a DSOX1204G, might have got it free from Keysight though hard to tell.

As I understand it, the video initially was sponsored by Intel, but after arriving at the lab the decision was made to drop the sponsorship so they could have more control over the contents of the video.

If you work with PCIe gen4 or higher, you'll probably use one of these.

Yeah, high speed serial is nuts these days. I loved the mention on CuriousMark. Daniel: you know we make scopes up to 110GHz now? Mark: yes, I know, I have to buy them for work.

36dB insertion loss budget. Nice! Wires lose 99.9% of the energy? ThisIsFine.jpg

Or bounce it around into ISI, which I'm sure is worse. Is that why you can't just use a VNA? You want to be able to identify what happened on a particular bit error and need to see the datastream?
