Is the AX-8455 AXIOMET just a rebranded VC8145?
« on: July 13, 2020, 02:33:18 pm »
I came across the AXIOMET AX-8455 and it looks almost the same as the Vici 8145. Seems nicer, less plasticky but it is more expensive.

Has anyone experience with this meter?

From the picture seems that just the case is not the same.

Hi guys! TME sells many Twintex products rebadged as Axiomet. The meter you refer to it's most probably a rebadged TM-8155+, see links below. It would be interesting to see what are the differences between this and the Vici, Victor VC8145.

Axiomet is lets say a medium quality brand , Vici , Victor is in the low range ... I doubt they are the same inside

This is for sure the same meter. It costs €208, i may ask for a discount and probably can get one for €190. I don't know if it is worth the money, Vici is €140.

I tend to agree. The specs are also exactly the same. It is a nice DMM; I use a VC8145 as my daily driver.

On the bench where i do repairs i have a Brymen 869s and a Der de-5000
I really like the brymen it is almost perfect, just the form factor is slightly annoying. I'm considering a bench meter to partially replace the 869. I'm not sure the Vici is up to the job.

For a cheap bench meter you can also check the East Tester ET3240, it is not perfect, but not that bad for the price (My review: https://lygte-info.dk/review/DMMEastTester%20ET3240%20UK.html )
For a little more money the Siglent SDM3045X is more polished (My review: https://lygte-info.dk/review/DMMSiglent%20SDM3045X%20UK.html ).
I did also review the VC8145: https://lygte-info.dk/review/DMMVici%20VC8145%20UK.html
All 3 meters are support by my TestController https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/program-that-can-log-from-many-multimeters/

Thank you for your suggestions.
Maybe sound silly but i'm reluctant to buy a bench meter less accurate than my handheld one.
I was considering the PoorManAgilent SDM3055 over the 3045x, it seems a better deal and it is probably more meter than i'll ever need.

Thinks about what you need and use. Do you really need/use the full resolution? My reason for using bench DMM's is not only the precision, but also that they can run 24/7 without running out of batteries and can be connected to a computer.
Probably a silly comment, I have a bunch of 6½ digit meters and a few 7½ digits ones.

Somebody did add all the Siglent DMM's to TestController, i.e. you will get gratis control software for any of the Siglent DMM's.
I needed a couple of precise meters, for that I selected Keysight (34461A), maybe I could have saved some money by getting the Siglent, but for me the difference was not significant enough.

Same here (except for the 7.5 digit DMM). One of the problems with higher end bench multimeters is that they typically have a fan, take long to start and may not have very instant continuity. IMHO the VC8145 is a good choice for doing repair work.

I prefer the aesthetic of the Axiomet/Twintex more than the Vici but probably the VC8145 is a better deal.

I wish i had a way to justify a really nice meter (34461,34465, dmm6500) but i just want one i don't need one.  8) ::)
