IETLabs DE-6000 LCR Meter
« on: October 30, 2014, 09:37:50 pm »
Just received my new DE-6000 LCR Meter. I have to say, some really nice improvements over the DE-5000 with a 0.2% basic accuracy now. Improvements on the R/C and DCR accuracy's also. I ended up getting the kit which has the meter, USB Interface, PSU, SMD Tweezers and Software. My initial tests with some reference parts were extremely accurate! In my opinion, this handheld LCR meter is as good as some bench LCR models when it comes to the accuracy. Got to run, I am short on time but will post more info soon.

It's worth a serious look!

I wonder what is different internally between the two.

I'll do teardown photos of my DER EE DE-5000 if Terabyte does the same for the IET DE-6000. I am also very interested in physical differences, especially given the much lower cost of the DE-5000.

IMO they are 99.9% the same. Just look in the specifications.

DE-6000: http://www.ietlabs.com/pdf/Datasheets/DE-6000.pdf
33% improvement my ass  :-DD as they state on the website. There are minor improvements in a 1kHz Resistance and capacitance specifications, that't all  :palm:. DCR accuracy also states that it is improved, yet I see 100% same specifications without a single difference. The question is, does it really have better specifications or they just updated specification sheet together with the model name and front panel color.

That's not all, they "upgraded" the price too. Significantly.

I think they had some problems with all those Japanese selling at 50 USD so they just re-spin new re-version to sell it at retouched price ... but let's wait for a teardown.

Yes, I would definitely like to see a tear down. I just purchased a 5000 with the assumption that there wasn't much different. I already have an Escort LCD meter but it is pretty old tech now and only measures to 1kHz and doesn't do 4 wire. I am looking forward to the upgrade.

Why is it possible for the Japanese seller, to offer such a low price?
No wonder, they had to re-spin this meter

DE-6000 has DM5000-2C-02
DE-5000 has DM5000-2C

Yeah, I saw that also but was unable to get any info on it. I emailed IET but have not heard anything back. I wanted to get a few more details on the "Improvements" that were advertised.

Maybe like ES51920S vs. ES51920A ==> current consumption improvement
