HP/Agilent 8648C questions
« on: April 08, 2018, 08:24:59 pm »
Anyone in the forum have any repair/calibration experience with the 8648C signal generator?  I'm looking for someone to ask a few questions.

Thanks,
Manuel  Tampa, Florida USA

Hi Manuel,

I have fixed a couple of these but I can tell you that AFAIK detailed service manuals do not exist. The division that mad them was closed down before anyone thought of archiving the CLIPS. Maybe a former HP/Agilent employee may have them but thus far none have turned up. If one ever shows up I would certainly want one. I have the C and D version of this generator.

Just ask away and I hope I can help you.

Could anyone say what inside 1GG3 4202 is. I think something went wrong with it and it needs to be replaced. It's in A10 Part and there is no CLIP for 8648C. I have CLIPS for 8640,8642,8643,8657,8662. :'(

1GG3-4202 is RF amplifier. Spec is unknown, but should be able to support up to 4 GHz.

Thanks to everybody for your help. I've bought that GG1 from ALI and replaced the old one. Fortunately everything is OK :-+ There wasn't any feedback from this unit. That's why the shape of the output signal had been distorted.
