« on: October 30, 2022, 08:14:45 pm »
For some reason, the Demod function is greyed out. I have DMA and AMA activated. Any ideas?

Stop, take a step back and think......how could it possibly Demod with Averaging engaged ?  :-//

BTW, having Preset configured to return a factory setup and boot setting last used you will find as the most convenient as a new user of these.

Sorry, complete newbie, just got this analyzer and trying to learn from YouTube and here how to use it! Thank you for your patience!
I selected "Clear Write" on the trace menu, but Demod is still greyed out. What setting do I need to change?

I have it return to last setting on boot already but thank you for the tip on adding a factory setup preset!

Fished out my SVA1032X, returned to SA mode and did a Preset to get rid of markers and setting from previous use.
Then I pressed Demod.

I'm not sure I understand. Sorry for the dumb questions, but what is the exact procedure to get the Demod working?
I can't seem to find any information anywhere on this!

Thank you, I've watched that a couple of times.
His Demod button isn't greyed out and he never shows how to get it to NOT be greyed out.

Do you know how to fix this? I need to get my Demod button not greyed out before I can use the Demod mode.

Press Mode, select SA. Check Preset in System is set to Factory. Press Preset to return to factory full sweep settings.
Then when you select Demod it should not be greyed out and like the screenshot I posted before.

Follow ^ exactly and report the outcome.

That worked!

So is that a bug in the software or something? I shouldn't have to factory reset every time I want to use Demod!
As soon as I change a setting, it greys out again. What settings cause it to grey out? What settings do I need to change to allow Demod?

Very strange.

Ok, it SEEMS that the setting it doesn't like is "Measure". ATM if "Measure" is on, Demod is off.
Are there any other settings that will disable Demod?

Possibly, don't know.

Maybe the only bug is not informing the User to turn unnecessary features to OFF when using Demod.

Depends on what features you might have selected and running in the background are incompatible with Demod.
There's good reason to have Preset in this instrument, just as there is good reason to have Default in a DSO.
Once more familiar you should find yourself using it often, especially at the start of another project.
I like Boot set to Last and Preset to Factory that seems make the most sense each time I use it which is not everyday.  :(

As you now may have realised Demodulation seems to have a heavy dependance on available system processing power where engaging Measurements seems to impact on Demod.
In other use types warnings are added to the display such as after Normalizing a trace then making an adjustment a UnCal warning is flashed up.

I'll ask Tech support about all this.
