Suggest to reset/initialise and cal everything, shut down and reboot,
BEFORE considering yes/no
firmware gambling.
Running the guinea pig scope from a UPS won't hurt either, in case of a power hiccup or black out, with possible scope RIP consequences
I recently updated the firmware on a Siglent SDS1000CFL 4 Channel series > Firmware Version: 5.01.02.38 | Released 2015-03-10
Software Version on updated unit: 5.03.02.38 Hardware Version: 15-f0-0.11
Result: the 'Siglent' brand blah boot time splash screen is now gone, replaced with a blank white screen, but it fires up quick and some issues I was concerned about are all gone and the scope appears to work as it should.
The firmware was direct from Siglent btw, and one must be VERY cautious to select the correct file on their support pages
The firmware instructions don't tell you that much, the final step 'Part 2 Update Cfg' made no real sense to me nor responded, or is not relevant to my scope model.
TBH: I tried this last released update hoping to resolve issues,
knowing I could fall back on the warranty if the update failed or scored a dud scope to begin with.
UPDATE: Siglent came to the party on this issue with a fixit CFG file, and matter resolved --------------------
EDIT May 10th 2020: a member PM request for the last/final software and hardware version displayed on the unit as mentioned above, still same as of 10th May 2020
