HP 5335A A13 Line Module change
« on: June 26, 2014, 01:25:01 pm »
Hello

I just received my HP5335A form the US yesterday and want to like to change it from 115V AC to 230V AC...

According to the service manual the A13 line module contains the line filter as well as a printed circuit board to do the switching between 115/230V AC.

Looking at the line module I don't see any printer circuit board nor how I can remove it without probably dismount almost anything at the back (o;

Don't know, which (old) version you have.

In the manual it's described on p 2-1, that line voltage is to be selected on the rear, accessible from outside the case. You do not even have to disassemble the case

The card sits under a window underneath the line jack, and can be pulled out, then turned in the right direction.

Need a copy of the drawing?

My eye sight is really poor....now saw the small pcb just below the fuse holder...

Eh voilĂ ...got a working 5335A now :-)

Now if just the Chinese would ship my GPS module faster ;-)

Just wondering though if either the 5335A's reference isn't stable or my 8904A doesn't output a stable frequency...

Which options does the Instrument have?
OCXO? Or the ordinary XTAL oscillator?

PS: You are also well over 45 ?

Whenever I need to access the back side of my 5335A , I need eye glasses..

No it's just the regular XTAL version....have a few OCXO here..but the GPS 10kHz module didn't arrive yet....

Hmm....is there any service manual of the option 010 available?

Would maybe make sense to incorporate the 10MHz OCXO and feed it at the back with the GPS 10kHz signal...

Yes, for the 10811 family, a complete manual incl. schematics is online, hp, or in the usual place...http://www.ko4bb.com/manuals/index.php?dir=HP_Agilent/HP_10811_Crystal_Oven_Oscillator

external ocxo makes sense also, although a fitting 10811 is more convenient.

And which GPSDO so you get? May hang in the customs...

Shouldn't be a problem with electronics from China as I live in Switzerland...

Most shipments are tax free now since last year...just takes 3 to 4 weeks until it arrives here...

Thought I shoot a picture of the line mode PCB it was talked about...

The fuse has to be removed with the plastic lever before the PCB can be pulled out.

It shows how the PCB needs to be inserted for 230V AC operation.
