Amazon Prime Day Sale on Fluke 117 & 115

For those Amazon Prime members (US only? Not sure) who are also Fluke fanboys, or wannabe fanboys looking to pick up their first Fluke, the 117 is on sale for $185USD and the 115 for $177USD (but unless you just prefer an averaging meter, not sure why you wouldn't spend the extra 8 bucks for the 117 and get TRMS, Low-Z, and NCV).

I don't follow these meters much (I have a 87V and a 101 in my DMM collection, and am not looking for more Flukes) but I don't recall seeing the 117 for much below $200 in recent memory, so thought I'd pass this along.

Yes, I realize the pictures in the 117 listing show a 117C model which is the Chinese model, but this link is sold and shipped by Amazon, an authorized Fluke dealer. I'd chalk that up to whomever created the listing just got lazy and grabbed the wrong stock photos without knowing better.

And no, these aren't the best for electronics work, however they are popular for general electrical use and would be safer for poking around in the mains than most DT830's.

The 115 is also TRMS, although the rest of your observation is probably true--provided they are actually shipping the US-version 117.

The 116 is also on sale and much cheaper, as I posted in the Buy/Sell form--$119 or less if you have a Prime credit card.  Its my choice for electrical-only work because running mains current through the meter isn't that great of an idea even with expensive fuses.

Sure we can! We just have to buy them from across the pond. Or pay exorbitant Greenlee prices. I have a BM869s incoming from Welectron (well, backordered awaiting stock). And don't forget Dave's BM786 (also a great meter).

On the other end of the spectrum, fans of terrifically (horribly?) cheap meters might be interested in the Mastfuyi FY77 which is $7 for prime day (which I think ends in a few to 12 hours).  The FY77 is as good or better than the Harbor Freight $6/freebie meter - though for all I know it might fail/blow up sooner than the HF meter if subjected to Joe Smith's tests.

• No capacitance range, but neither does the HF meter
• 2000 count (same as HF meter)

• large LCD
• auto-ranging
• battery test modes that put a small load on the battery for the test; unlike the HF meter it displays the battery's voltage under load instead of the mA.  You decide which is better
• continuity on the FY77 is actually very good - as long as you pair it with some decent probes (that'll cost at least twice what the meter itself costs)
• 10A range is fused (with what appears to be a ceramic fuse no less)
• NCV (which I never trust anyway) that also supports single probe detection (which I would trust... I think)
• best of all: a backlight!

Looks like all Amazon-shipped US model Fluke DMMs are on sale, as well as a lot of their cable testing equipment too.

They have the Fluke 107 for $87. I know I said I wasn't in the market for another Fluke, but I have a 101 which is a neat little meter -- and the 107 adds current, a backlight, and apparently 10x the capacitance range. Did I mention that I'm up to like 25 handheld DMMs now? I really don't need another one. What I need is an intervention, but where's the fun in that???
