Presentation and question about Siglent SDG5082
« on: March 14, 2015, 01:44:17 pm »
Hi, my name is Jose Luis, I'm technical engineer in electronics and this is my first post in EEVblog, so first I want to say Hello! to everyone.
I'm about to purchase an AWG, after comparing with Rigol units, it's almost sure that it will be a Siglent one, but I need it to be able to lock one channel with adjustable phase with the other channel (I need to generate two sine waves in quadrature). I think SDG1025 has this feature since last firmware, but I'm not sure if newest model SDG5082 has the same feature. I've been reading many posts about this unit, but I haven't find and answer to this question.

 Thanks in advance,

 Jose Luis

Welcome to the forum.

Link to ALL available manuals for the SDG5000 series:

Sorry I can't be of more assistance, maybe rf-loop will spot your post and answer your question.

Hi, Tautech, thanks for the link. I had already read user manual and datasheet, but there is no info about this function  :( . I hope rf-loop can help me  :) .

If I understand correctly......
you need two sine waves 90deg out of phase to each other and you want to adjust phase of one sine wave?
Possible.
If you don't mind some rust inside.....

Yes, in fact it would be even better if I could adjust any phase value of one channel with other channel with any waveform, including arbitrary waveforms. ¿How can you do it in this model? I could not find this option in the user manual.

You can adjust phase any direction of both channels independently. Press parameter button and phase button.

Ok, so I suppose that you can "lock" one channel to the other channel. Maybe Siglent factory is very close to the sea...

 Thanks!

Hi Vueltinguer,
I doubt you are asking about Channel Coupling function, SDG5000 series does not support not. Am I right?

Yes, that´s what I mean. So it is only available in SDG1000 series?  :(  (I suppose there´s no possibility of enabling channel coupling  by firmware updates...)
