« on: November 25, 2020, 09:44:29 pm »
Donating my 2465 , just 2465, 300Mhz , to a friend.

I wish the best info, parts list to changeall failure prone electrolytics.

All 4 traces show, it appears to work, no alarm or anything, I thinka channel seems to have ripple, nothing alarming.

Instructions.

Willing to pay. Hurry, Hurry...

I wanna do this because last time I used abit was like in 2014.

Make sure you understand how to remove the fan without the collet disintegrating.
There is a good condoraudio article about the PSU.
Change one PSU electrolytic at a time; two are swapped on the PCB/manual.
For other problem ms, search the tekscopes archive.
All that is well described elsewhere, so there is no point in us repeating it.
There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.

Many people have, many times. Any repetition is likely to be hasty and poor quality.

A little time spent researching will pay dividends, especially in terms of avoiding damage.

Ok I changed the caps, it worked.

But now...

The plastic collet is broken, the plastic taper thing broke.

How to a make this POS fan stik to the shaft?

Does this scope really need a fan?

I cant believe I have to pay to get a POS plastic thing.

Yes it needs a fan.

It seems like you're rushing things, and in a bit over your head. This is not a scope you should be messing around inside if you don't know what you're doing. It has many parts that are irreplaceable and if you damage any of those you're screwed.

Shut up dude

I broke it in the beginning, when I dissassembled the stupid fan, listening to poor instructions and NO VIDEO.

Re-assembled it, scope seems good, now what to do.

I dont need no good comments, I need solutions.

The solution has several threads...
  • do basic research
  • learn how to assess the validity and limitations of what you find during your research
  • take time, don't rush
  • listen to hints and tips and warnings posted by others
  • understand what you don't know; avoid the Dunning-Kruger syndrome
  • be polite to those whom you are asking for help

You can make your own replacement collet. I suggest 3D printing it in SLA, but others have machined them out of brass.

Apology accepted :)

Those collets are frustrating, but less so than the device that stores the calibration constants.

The instructions I posted for you gave fair warning that the collet could break no matter how careful you are at disassembly. I've had one break and epoxy fixed it. I'm not understanding what all the fuss is. Fix it and move on. And yes, the 2465 MUST have an operational fan.

What is wrong with people these days? Can't follow instructions and need a video? I hate when I'm looking for instructions on how to do something and all I can find is stupid videos.

Frustration leads to mistakes. If you get frustrated the thing to do is set it aside and come back to it later. Bottom line is if you need precise step by step instructions then refurbishing a Tek 2465 really isn't a recommended project, the scope is likely to be damaged beyond economic repair by ham-fisted repair attempts. Just recently I worked on a scope that some novice had replaced most of the perfectly good original capacitors with Chinese knockoff crap poorly soldered and damaged the board in the process.  |O  Would have been so much better to just leave it alone.
