HP / Agilent 08672-60187 Attenuator
« on: December 23, 2014, 12:42:33 am »
Hi,

I have purchased that attenuator on ebay and it was advertised as a 10 dB attenuator but it only halves the amplitudes.
Does anybody have the exact attenuation value of that device?
Apparently it came out of an HP 8672A synthesized signal generator.
Thank you in advance.

Are you measuring with 50ohm source and load impedance? To test if the attenuator is OK, measure the DC resistance through and each leg to ground, that should allow you to calculate the resistance values.

Hmm, What is the center to centre resistance?

I measure 87.3 ohm from both sides to ground
33 ohm center to center

That all makes sense for a 6 dB 50 ohm attenuator
Keyboard error: Press F1 to continue.
