GOPHERT CPS-6017 0-60V 0-17A 1000W Real?

Hello,

Specs/Price are unbelievable... Anyone got one of this? Teardowns?
Comments confirm that 60v/17a output is real

What are the thoughts on that?

Obviously some simpleton just multiplied the 60V max with the 17A max. It is obvious that both maximums can not be had at the same time. It is probably closer to a 700W max PS. Still not bad for the price IMHO. I might get one. I have been happy with my other Gophert.

A customer review told he tested with a resistor and it deliver max power, but not sure...
Anyway test is better than speculating :D

It takes 220V, 3.3A input while outputting 1020W full load. It's either BS or real free energy generator.

Why do you make such assumption? Computer PSUs pack up to 2x of power in the same volume + they have tougher task as outputting 1 kW at 60V is easier than doing this at 12V.

Hi, I do use one and I am still satisfied. The only part that was not ok were the enclosed cables and clamps.

I own for some time CPS-1660 (16V 60A - almost opposite of yours :-)) and works fine.
True is, I do not dare to load it fully, e.g. 16V and 60A at the same time. It works for short time, then starts to be hot and I always interrupt the experiment  ;)

More than output current and voltage i think the most important is the stability and ripple.

I have a couple of the smaller Gophert units and they're pretty reasonable, and very small & light so ideal if you need to carry somewhere. UI isn't great but they seem to work OK and build quality is reasonable.
Main annoyance is that terminals are on the back, but smaller size makes up for this.
Youtube channel:Taking wierd stuff apart. Very apart.
Mike's Electric Stuff: High voltage, vintage electronics etc.
Day Job: Mostly LEDs

I have a GOPHER CPS-3232.
Adjustable 32V, 32A SMPS.
I don't use it as my everyday bench PSU, I have a Tektronix PWS4205 for that.
However, when you want some serious current it is rock solid.
I took mine apart when I first got it to do the standard safety checks. The build quality is pretty decent.
Where are we going, and why are we in a handbasket?

Youtube suggested me a video (Russian). This PSU has 92% efficiency and 0.99 power factor at max load and was running fine for 6 hours under 1050W load.

Hello, here is my review (in russian)-


1:14 - voltage drop at 10A load
2:00 - voltage accuracy at several points
2:30 - voltage indicator has some error at < 2V (the output voltage itself is correct)
4:25 - transition from no load to 5A load
5:00 switching noise with and without load
5:20 - thermal picture of components
6:42 and 7:35 - current transition from 0 to 2A on a short circuit (0.1om 4wire resistor load) - with spikes up to 6A
8:33 - the same experiment (current transition from 0 to 2A on a short circuit ) on a Rigol

Do you paint in matte black all board components before inspecting with thermal camera?  :-DD

To explain what I'm talking on video,
1. I found an IC heated up to 60degree, tny274gn - looks normal, it doesn't heat more on load
2. Found 2 10om big SMD resistors, heated to 100degree (seen on 6:25 labeled "100"), looks like switching ringing dissipation circuit (resistors are connected in series with caps).

For reference, as mentioned in this thread.

I have been able to purchase a CPS-6017 with a 110V supply and US power cable by asking Gophert directly and paid USD 220 shipped.

I only have a 300W load to test it, but at 300W  (25V, 12A), the CPS had no issue. According to my wall power meter, the PF was ~99% and the efficiency ~85% at that point.

I also looked at the supply with a thermal camera (Flir One gen 2) and found it very cool except for the already mentioned SMD resitors, which the Flir was measuring up to 130C. Closing the case for a realistic airflow, they were more in the 115C. Still pretty high.

Finally, I got a user manual (attached) for those who want to have a look at it.

Overall, I think it's a good deal for the price.
