I suppose that the script can't find system.inf... What firmware version do you have?
This script should work on a HDB2002B with firmware >= 1.00.2 where system.inf is located in /dso/root. It won't work with firmware 1.00.1 where system.inf is in /etc.

Indeed I am FW 1.00.1. Which means of course that the other firmware update scripts will also not work.

I would be most grateful for a set of files that allowed me to move up to something better than my current level! If you could mod your files and provide a link that would be superb. :-+

Some news on the PSU/isolation thing:

I did try installing the digital isolators. ADUM2400 fits pinout-wise and data-direction-wise too (tested for U14 only at the moment).
However, i got sent the wrong parts (-ARW suffix) from an incompetent seller, which are only rated for 1Mbd and have much too high delay, so it doesnt work. Some signal gets trough, but it doesnt look good.
Now ordering the correct (90Mbd) -CRW again, but this time at a distributor that hopefully knows what they are doing...

Not sure what you all will make of this. I have been in touch with Hantek because of a dodgy PSU in my HDG2002B. They are going to ship me a new one. But I also mentioned that a firmware update would be nice.

They provided me this file... https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/46144181/afg_hdg2000b_150807.upk  :-+
...which then bricked my machine. Sigh.  |O

Maybe someone in the forum can make something of it. It is dated very recently...

So now seeing if Hantek can sort this out. (Yes I know I can get in there with a UART as I have before, but for now I want to see how the "official" solution works out before I have to go up a learning curve I'd rather avoid)

cheers

Well, Hantek actually responded with a set of files that seem to provide a telnet link via the USB port. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/46144181/Hantek%20USB%20cmd.zip This certainly got my device working again. I suspect this might be a more generally useful tool if you want to shortcut the UART access effort. I leave it to those with the skills and interest in the forum to investigate...

I got my new HDG2002B with the following

PCB 1004.1
SW 1.00.3.03.05 (150710.0)
FPGA 41

Can still be hacked to HDG2102C.

fremen67, I found a bug in your spreadsheet when attempting to do the calibration with my Rigol DS2000 scope. In the function "GetVoltFromDS2000A" you have "GetTimeScale " when it should be "GetDS2000ATimeScale". Once I changed that (and spoofed the DS2000 into DS2000A) it then worked.

great work everyone on enabling this easy upgrade.

FW 1.00.1 systems do not have the recovery partition which I use to provide upgrades to new firmwares (this started with FW 1.00.2). Upgrading from FW 1.00.1 needs a complete erase of the nandflash and requires a new u-boot. This should be possible wthout opening the HDG with a SD card and some modifications on u-boot but in case of a problem, you would end up with a bricked unit...
Regarding scripts like the one which changes the HDG model, this would not be a big deal to have a generic one. If you need it, I could do it.

That's a very good news  :-+ . Would you be able to dump your device and post the files somewhere? I will create an upgrade package for this new version and upload it on my oneDrive.

Thank you for the feedback. I will update the Excel file. As I don't have a DS2000, I was unable to test it  ;)

I used your backup and upgrade tools to hack my unit. Link below for the set of backup files I made.

I upgraded my early unit with this firmware and it looks like it fixes a few annoying bugs!  I will need to re-do a batch of tests;  shall do that soon and post my findings.

It did restore with the new firmware upgrade in place 1.00.4 I think

Of course, now I just found a "blue screen of death" crash bug when trying to use the Arb function.   :-//

Of course. So did I...
There are more preloaded arb functions and they are grouped by themes: Math (6), Project (15), DistrFun (4), TrigFun (5), WindFun ( 8 ) and Biology (4). Each function seems to be defined with 3 different sample counts. The files are in /dso/etc/data:

There is also a new function in each menu which allows to duplicate the current waveform on the other channel (CH1=CH2), and a blue arrow has been added on soft keys which call a sub-menu.

The trigger button does not seem to call a trigger menu anymore ...

Anyone know if this fixed the self test failure on the zoom unit I and a few others see on newer units?

New HDG user has come  :)

I bought mine a few days ago and "upgraded" bandwidth today (even without violating warranty sticker:)). Thanks to the people who made it possible.

As I don't have genuine Excel here, I wrote my my own calibration tool in Python. Wouldn't mind to share if anyone wants.

Strange, my unit does not perform self test. When I click it, HDG makes some relay clicks without displaying anything and reboots after a few seconds.

PCB: 1004.1
FW: 1.0.3.2.3 (150420)
FPGA: 30
KBD: 3

I saw people reporting higher FPGAs. Is anyone aware of diferences?

Welcome wojt  :)
There is a newer firmware version available. This would update your FPGA to v40.
I suggest that you update your device to the latest version. This may solve your problem ...
It is available on my onedrive here: https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=C666E0DC0AF0C9E2!139&authkey=!AFktskq2NZNoiws&ithint=folder%2cupk

@sandra: I suggest that you also upgrade your device to this last version.

I also noticed last night that this FW update seems to have broken both LF and HF frequency counters.  Booo.

Can someone post some screenshots of square waves on a unit that is fully calibrated? I'm wondering if calibration helped correct the deficiencies in the waveform.

What model versions of the device don't have the HF counter and LAN port? What models has all the equitment?

Furthermore, what is the difference between the 2000B and the 2000C?

HDG2002B 5 MHz
HDG2012B 10 MHz
HDG2022B 20 MHz
HDG2032B 30 MHz
HDG2062B 60 MHz
??????HDG2082B 80 MHz
HDG2102B 100 MHz
HDG2032C 30 MHz
HDG2052C 50 MHz
HDG2072C 70 MHz
HDG2102C 100 MHz
