Fluke 101 - Fluke's "extremely rugged" multimeter.

You can get them shipped to your house for under $42: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?&_nkw=fluke+101

LCD screens don't like extreme temperatures and can suffer permanent damage.

Yes, but good luck finding a non-LCD handheld multimeter.

Fluke 101's storage temperature range is -30 °C to +60 °C

To beat that you'd have to go to something like a Fluke 28 II:

Temperature
Operating -15 °C to +55 °C, to -40 °C for 20 minutes when taken from 20 °C
Storage -55 °C to +85 °C (without battery) -55°C to +60°C (with battery)

But a Fluke 28 II is a lot more expensive.

(And a lot bigger - I don't know how big your glove box is, or how full...)

It is better store a DMM in a different place. A cool place would be under the seats or in the trunk next to the spare tire.
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.

Fluke 101's storage temperature range is -30 °C to +60 °C

So it's OK for most of the year.  :)

To be fair: The "-37°C" figure is an unoffical record low, only seen once and not ratified.

If the Victor VC921 lasted a few years then the Fluke 101 will probably be OK.  :-+
