Hello everyone!

I just scored two awesome scopes, a tek type 547 AND a cute little type 422. Since I am quite a noob I started restoring the 422, I finished the cleaning process yesterday (looks tight!) but it developed a problem, the channel 2 is now sensitive to vibrations... i mean, if channel 2 is displaying a wave and I lightly tap with a nail anywhere on the scope's metal cover the wave distorts and deflects either up or down. I can make the wave go back to it's place by tapping the scope also.

I'm thinking it's something loose inside or maybe dirty?

I checked out visually the input amplifier from channel 2 and everything looks right. Can you point me a little what to look for? maybe do some chopsticking somewhere while the scope is running and displaying some waves?

Thanks.

Guy

You might want to clean the vertical gain pots. Those can get dirty. I have one of those with both the battery pack and the A/C supply.

If those are the pots that go to the control knob those are already cleaned, but will look at it again.

How do you like your 422? They're lovely ;)

Apologies, I meant the step attenuation pots and gain pots.

I don't use mine much.

So, i corrected the problem.... pushed down to their sockets all the transistors and those little black capped brown thingies that look similar to the transistors, fired the scoop up and voilá...

The problem now is that the voltages are high in the power supply test points except for the +12dc and -12vdc. I'm not sure how to correct those values.
