Hello all,
The super-cap issue on the Fluke 289/189 meters has been discussed enough in the site, with very helpful information. I was able to replace the super-cap in a few 189 and one 289 with replacements bought at Digi-Key.
A late addition to the repair stack is a really nice 289 newer than most of the prior repairs, and to my surprise it has a small battery cell (BT1) that someone botched somehow and shows 0VDC. The battery was superglued to the PCB and a messy solder job was present.
A Google search barely registers any mentions of these cells. For now, I removed it and am using the meter without any backup battery.
A suggested replacement battery p/n: would be appreciated to restore the meter to factory condition.
Thank you
