Fluke 287(9?) leaking super-cap
« on: May 21, 2015, 02:48:21 pm »
Hi

I had a look at my 287 a while back, and discovered that, lo and behold, the infamous supercap had spilled its guts.

Today, on a whim, I took it into Fluke's UK HQ in Norwich, and had a conversation with a service engineer outside the deliveries door in the back car park - which was a bit odd. He'd never come across the problem, but apparently they don't service hand-held meters there - they're looked after in Eindhoven.

Anyway, he took it in, with my details scribbled on a scrap of paper, and promised to get back to me. I hope I see it again one day. If I do, I'll update this thread.

I'll make sure to wave at it while it's "here", make it feel at home a little.
If it's a puzzle, I want to solve it.
If it's a problem, I need to solve it.
If it's an equation... mjeh, I've got Matlab
...
...
(not really though, Matlab annoys me).

Right, so I got my 287 back. The replacement of the leaking supercap was accepted as a warranty issue, which was nice of them, since I'd bought the unit off eBay.

Photos attached.
