making a new rubber holster, old Scopemeter
« on: May 23, 2020, 01:17:56 pm »
I have an old Philips/Fluke PM93 scopemeter here. The rubber holster got a crack. Trying to glue it, it started cracking in other places. It's dry like cork, and I wouldn't like to use it without the case, but I don't know how to go about it.

Trying to recondition the rubber and keep gluing more seems pointless.
If (!) I were able to find a new holster, it would probably be very old and brittle as well. Probably expensive too.

So, errr, how can I fabricate a new holster?
Designing and 3D printing an entire holster in ninjaflex would take a long time, and ninjaflex isn't cheap. cheap TPU seems too stiff for this.
I could stitch a holster from a soft material, and would like some recommendations. Maybe thick dense neoprene?

I wouldn't count on a new one being so bad, the one on my PM99 (I'm assuming it's original but idk as I didn't buy the scopemeter new) is in excellent condition, aside from a few minor marks.
Maybe yours has lived in a harsh working environment for part of its life?

The PM93 and PM99 are the same case, so you could broaden your search to include those and the PM92/95/96/97/105 as well.

The Fluke part number is PM9083/001, might be worth seeing if anyone has any NOS...

Thanks for the part number. It doesn't seem to be available anywhere.
