Fluke 17b on eBay for 12.99USD
« on: December 30, 2014, 08:38:42 pm »
What am I missing? Looks like this person is missing a zero:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/FLUKE-17B-F17B-Digital-Multimeter-NEW-w-carrying-bag-NEW-/191465958378?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c9442abea

fluke 17b for 12.99 on ebay. I ordered two (not to be greedy).

I also picked-up another HP 3478a that a person put on a very short auction.  I have two already if someone wants this one, let me know via PM.

Just call me bottom feeder.

Thanks for the hint, Jerry!

Just ordered two, as well.
Even if it fails, the risk seems pretty low. If it works out, I'll have two China-market Fluke 17B+ to put on my desk  :-+

Let's see what happens mid of January.

(Actually I'm expecting some e-mails with "sorry, the price was wrong. We've missed to put another 1 before the point"  :box: :-DD

Greetings from Germany

Yes, that's where the "lost 1" comes from.
They sell it for $121.99 US.

We will see  :-/O

I am in lovely Sausalito, California, my home,  recovering from multiple fractures to my right forearm.  Spending a lot of time trolling ebay and craigslist and typing with one finger.

The location sounds nice; your condition less so.
At least you won't die of boredom  :)

Get well soon!  :-+

So far I haven't had the chance to see California. Only Georgia, Tennessee and Texas so far...

Greetings to the other side of the big ol' pond!

PS: Hope the laugh's not on us with the 17Bs  ;)

Thanks for sharing this, but does this seem strange. I clicked on the sellers name, and the resulting page said they had no items on sale. The same thing happened when looking at their shop. Hope this helps!

Might be an error on ebay.
I have this problem sometimes when clicking on Franky's shop, as well.
Maybe an ebay glitch or something.

Some times ago on dark web I accidentally stumbled on some  underground chinese forum. It was a live chat  and I was watching that real conversation, under the taobao supervision they are planning the strategy to completely destroy ebay. One part of it is a developing some new type of supervirus that is completely undetected with modern antivirus programs and that will completely mess up the ebay code and thus destroy the buyers confidence in that page.
I see items like this that are way under the real prices have become in the recent past pretty common........and don't forget ebay is recenty having big problems, every couple of days something is wrong.

Ebay is supposed to prevent things like what could be happening.  One hundred of us buy them for $12.99 and the he runs off with $1300 minus the ebay fee. This is the typical scam, but ebay protects us and is backed-up by paypal.  There might be a clause where we lose our money, usually is, but what the hell, if the guy wants to throw away his business, credit, etc for $1300, I guess we have to help him.  Or there could be, "...so sorry, lost in mail."

I've also had two or three of the Asian sellers try to invoice me after the fact for terms not in the agreement.  The funny thing is though, I have found most of those high-volume guys to be very, very protective of the rep.

Anyway, it won't be the last time I was scammed.  But if you think about it, it is a hell of a lot easier to sell a few nonexistent scopes than 100 meters.

Within the last month, the seller has has 8 negative / 2 neutral / 20 positive feedback, which is a pretty terrible rating. The negative feedback is for non-delivery.

I received an email that mine shipped.  So add wire fraud to the charges.  I am curious to see what we get for $12.99. I suspect he marked them shipped so he has three weeks to abscond with the money. :-//

I received my shipping notice as well.
Now I'm really curious for the outcome of this experiment.

Worst case is: Nothing is being shipped.
Best case: We receive some China-market, old revision Fluke 17

Mid case: We receive crappy Chinese multimeters with yellow colour on them, which at least make for an interesting teardown.  :-/O

This is what I am expecting , but, perhaps we will be suprised in a couple of weeks.

eBay now shows he sold 172pcs of the fluke (since yesterday) , at $12,99 a piece that makes a total of $2234,28 already if he is scamming  :-DD

I was under the impression that there  is no Fluke warranty outside of China for this model anyways.

Also, that warranty, even if it existed, would only be for a genuine Fluke.  At $12.99, these might be fake clones. Then again, they could also be midnight runs sold off the dock.

Just the same, I bought one :) At $12.99 , if it's a real Fluke, then it's a great deal. If it's a fake then it probably uses some fake IC too, but it's also likely to be at least as good as any other fake Chinese meter, and there have been some good and accurate enough Chinese meters.  Also, I only do low voltage work so I don't need to worry about safety issues with a fake as much as someone else might.

And finally, eBay has a money back guarantee, even if it is a hassle, you *CAN* get your money back.

I bought one too, but I'm very sceptic.
As mentioned in one of the post, it's probably typing mistake - should be 121,99
We will see, but it's seller's mistake for totally ~20k USD (almost 200 sold already)
