I have a "fleet" of Fluke 715 calibrators I use to field check my equipment. They are convenient and easy to use. However, the zero frequently drifts on both the 200-mV and 20-V ranges, and I get out-of-tolerance reports on the yearly calibration checks. I'm supporting a very quality-conscious industry, and OOT events are not cool.

I am looking for an alternative to the Fluke 715. Ideally, it would be exactly like the Fluke 715 in every way, except it would last an entire year without losing its zeroes.

The Fluke 715 costs USD1300 where I live. Pricey, yes, but I'd pay more if I could get everything I want.

Anybody had good experiences with handheld DC voltage calibrators in a strict regulatory environment?

Have you queried this with Fluke?  You would think that a quality calibration device wouldn't have this kind of issue.

  • The sky is the limit!
Have you've seen the pdsv2 made be Ian Johnston?

I think he needs it to be certified though.

I have good experiences with Beamex MC2.  More costly and complex compared to 715, but also LOT more functions.

I have not. Since this is a commercial off-the-shelf item, it seems to be more expedient to look for a more robust product first. I could be wrong, but fixing the issue of the Fluke 715 could take years.

Have a look at French AOIP... Good products.
