My vote is the 287. No supercap to worry about, will have a fresh calibration and of course is new.
Now what about the extra features with the 289? Well, your 87V has the 1kHz filter, but the LoZ and 50 Ohm range could be handy in rare cases. Personally I would use a 4-wire setup for low resistance measurements and LoZ can be handled easily enough with a simple resistor.
You said 100% electronics bench work, so the obvious question is why not a bench meter?
