Fan Air Flow Direction in Agilent 54845b Scope Power Supply
« on: December 12, 2022, 02:02:18 pm »

I have completed a repair on an Agilent 54845B, and before I put all the covers back on, I noticed something that seems counter intuitive.

Per the picture, all 6 of the fans on the left side of the unit blow into the scope so that the air flow is left to right as viewed from the front of the scope.

However, there is a small fan at the power supply end that is just in back of the display.  I tested this and am sure it is blowing right to left.  This is against what the upper front left fan is doing.

Can someone confirm this is wrong?  The air intake to the power supply in my case is at the front right side of the scope which is drawing air into that spot.  I did a test with a smoking match to be sure.

I'm thinking that I need to reverse the fan at the power supply.  Comments?
