FLIR software calling home
« on: November 13, 2014, 02:25:20 am »
Just to remind FLIR owners that FLIR Tools send home your data each time you start the software, over an unsecure connection, as follows

Also sends some data to Google. Initially this was found by users in the Teardown thread here:
https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/flir-e4-thermal-imaging-camera-teardown/2025/

So here we go a year later, nothing changed.

I blocked the URL on my HTTP filter, the software did not seem to care.

Crap.  Thanks for the post, I had no idea. :--

I don't really have an issue with software sending back some data if it helps them build a better product, but encrypt it, don't send unnecessary personal details and provide me a means to opt out. :palm:
