Picked up an SDS1104X-E today
« on: December 01, 2019, 10:17:28 pm »
After a year of watching EEVBLOG reviews and cruising the forums I broke down and bought an SDS1104X-E today.  Circuitspecialists.com has a 15%-off black friday coupon code today that brought the price down to $424 with no taxes and free shipping!

I waffled back and forth between the DS1054z, SDS1202X-E and this model for a long time.  In the end I wanted a 4-channel scope but didn't want to spend an extra $150 over the Rigol but I also didn't want to have to have to hack it either.  I ended up spending an extra $75 (probably less because of no taxes) for the peace of mind and slightly higher-specs of the Siglent.  If they had the DS1054Z in-stock it would have made for a very hard decision because it would have been so cheap.

Thanks Dave, and everybody else on the forums who helped me make the decision!

Congrats!

That a good deal from Circuit Specialists.  I've purchase a good bit of stuff from them in the past.  Very nice folks.

Yeah, I just kind of stumbled across the deal while following something down a rabbit hole on this very forum.  I saw a post from someone that mentioned CS had a good price on another scope so I went to check them out and saw the sale.  Just dumb luck.

I am excited to try the new scope out when it gets here.  I already made a place for it in the lab!

I have a Tek 2440 300mhz scope that I bought on ebay last year as a sort of stop-gap until I picked up a DSO, but man I can't wait to play with the Siglent.

These new low-cost DSO's have a remarkable amount of functionality for the money, and quite a bit of difference from the 2440.  Plus, even though you mentioned not wanting to hack the Rigol, I'm sure you've seen the threads discussing how the Siglent can be hacked too to get to 200MHz.

It's a neat little scope, I'm sure you'll have fun with it.

I have seen some stuff about hacking the Siglent on here and I will probably play around with it eventually.  Having a quality 200mhz 4-channel scope for the price I paid would be fantastic.
